It was Wednesday evening and we were running late to celebrate my sister’s 20th birthday because of my brother who ended work late. Initially, we wanted to try The Connoisseurs concerto. However Mom was very skeptical about the food being Halal so we had to change last minute. We wanted to dine at Carousel but it was too expensive for a dinner on weekdays ($74++ per adult!) So my sister suggested MeatWorks which is located at Ion Level 4. I’m not a hard core meat lover so I was not very excited to be frank.
We were well greeted by the friendliness of staffs, coziness of the cottage-like interior. It was certainly a calm respite compared to the frenzied queues at Paradise Dynasty next door. They have quite a selection of steaks in different cuts and from various countries like the United States and Australia to the table, including some I’d never heard of before. I had a hard time understanding the menu because of the weird names that they have such as “Wagyu Striploin” and “Salmon el Funghi” *Crick crick* We took quite a long time to decide what to eat and i actually noticed the waitress was looking at us with this curious face probably wondering why we were taking so long :/
It’s not exactly fine-dining (more like fresh dining I guess?) as the food prices range from $14 to $40 and above. I loved the fries and wedges, which comes with every steak. They were crispy, piping hot, and so flavourful I didn’t get sick of eating them. (I usually do.) I don’t eat vegetables but my mother said the sauteed veges were all cooked modestly, simple yet tasty.
The service was commendable, the ambience was quiet and very pleasant with the white and red furniture against the walls of bricks. The classic light fixtures added warmth and eloquence to the overall look and feel of the restaurant. It was my first time here but it did leave a pretty good impression. If you're heading over here, please do come on an empty stomach. The portion's a little on the large side and with all the meat, wouldn't you want to be really starved to try them all?
It was juicy and savoury sweet. Not dried out like some meat tends to be.
This prawn aglio olio was really good!
Its weird that my sister looooves this pandan cake so much from bengawan solo-.-
Sister received a new Sony Ericsson Xperia phone, a creative zen mp3 player and a G-star dress. And not forgetting the scrambler my dad bought a month ago. It was part of her bday present ;)
We also received $20 voucher for spending $150 and above.
Have i mentioned that i wear glasses? Usually to school. I know i look nerdy BUT I LIKE IT!
Even though my sister gets on my nerves WAY more often than she should and its annoying how everybody kept telling me that we look different(people actually asked me if i was adopted?!-.-), i still appreciate having her because she wouldn't mind fetching me anywhere anytime by bike and she would buy me breakfast at four in the morning when i asked her to! Happy 20th birthday, sissy.
