Last Tuesday, I had a 9am meet-up at Eunos. Not something I normally look forward to, but I was meeting my poly friends and we were going jalan raya, so it was a great one indeed! Although I woke up at six in the morning, me and my 2 other girls were still late for an hour plus. What’s new anyway? I have some punctuality issues. This people are actually the dancers I’ve met when I joined Styles Groovas Crew during my semester 1. I’m so honoured to be invited even though I’m not part of their clique anymore. I really respect them for putting in so much effort in organising this outing to make sure everything would go smoothly and those who have curfew will be home on time! Our facebook events page were always updated with each and everyone’s comments and frankly, I’ve never met a group of friends who are very cooperative in the planning! *applauds
Beat that mfkas!
What made the Jalan Raya more exhilarating was travelling in Syamir’s mini-van. He just passed his driving license recently so I guess some of us were a little doubtful to trust that he would bring us around safely. Except for me. I didn’t care at all, I just didn’t want to take public transport!!!! However, I could not possibly describe how mentally torturing it was to be squeezed at the back of his van with the other 10 people in that tiny box. Furthermore, our own driver, Mr. Syaik Syamir, was very stingy as he insisted on increasing the speed of the air-con because it would use up a lot of fuel, whilst we already forked out five bucks each for it (It was more than enough!) The privileged few who sat nearest to the driver’s seat could feel a little bit of the fan and air-con (they still sweat though!), whereas those nearest to the back door had to perspire the crap out of them until their whole baju kurung were drenched! The guys who wore white looked like they wore something almost transparent because of the sweat from head to toe. Yep, it was THAT bad. Nevertheless, I was very amused at how intense the situation was!
How cute are we? :')
The plan was to proceed to Boon lay after all the houses in the east have been cleared (Little did I know that RP has a lot of east siders!). Needless to say, the journey from east to west was very long, hence a few of them took cab to avoid going through hell in the hot oven. I was glad that we had more space though because my butt hurts! Our driver turned on Bollywood songs so we started grooving and busting moves. I ain’t a big fan of Bollywood dramas, but i loooooove their energetic dance! While we were moving our necks from side to side, back and forth, swaying our arms, shaking our boobies, and taking videos of each other, what do you think happened next?
a) We started hitting each other.
b) Everybody was tired so we went to sleep.
c) The van started heating up.
If you chose c, you’re right! We had to freaking pull over to the shoulder on the expressway. Twice. Syamir said it was not our fault. I felt that partly it was, we might have been too aggressive that the tyres couldn’t hold on and the engines were exhausted! LOL I DON’T KNOW? We were very worried because those who took the cab have already reached their destination but we were still fixing the van. Like what Syamir’s mom reminded him through his phone, “Stay calm and keep cool!” Hahaha, so he did, we all did! While we waited for Syamir to pour bottles of water into the engine system whatever it is called, we played ‘burger-burger game’ that Jazliyana taught us at Hazy’s house, had a mini ‘shoot’ in the van with our gorgeous ‘model’, Jaz! And a heart-to-heart talk about boys. We even took a video our own News report! Swear it was hilllllllllarious!
We were very surprised when a tow truck came without us calling! We were asked to get out of the van so that they could attach the vehicle to their truck. I really thought we were going to get fined because the van only says 4 pax but we had double! The truck driver was taking photos of us too, what do you expect? Thank goodness we did not have to pay anything at all. They just dropped us at the nearest esso station. That’s where syamir’s dad came over to fix the van but we could continue jalan raya with his tiny car ! Another crazy ride. Windy (cause no aircon so we had to open the windows) + awesome music + awesome people! What more could you ask for? We were literally screaming the lyrics in the expressway. It was like karaoke madness.
Stuck in the expressway!
The last house at 11am was Firah’s. We came not to eat kuih, or meet her parents (they were not even at home!). We called it…the “after party”! That’s when everybody became wild with THE KINECT FOR XBOX 360 . Whoever invented this motion sensing input device is a freaking genius!!!! The dance game was really awesome man. Can you imagine at midnight her whole living room was filled with like 5 or 6 of us dancing together to the game? I actually learned new moves. Everybody went full out with our baju kurung on and it was beyond insane! Mmmmm… Sugar rush, I supposed! Firah fed us litres of coke. And….chocolate ice cream!!! Favourite!!! We had to drag ourselves out of her house at 2 in the morning… Cabbed home and I woke up at 4pm the next day. That’s how fatigued I was after being outside (with baju kurung) for more than 18hours.
Anyhoooo, this are the pictures we took the whole day. The best raya outing ever! Enjoy.

Go to Firah's facebook album or Mai's if you wanna see more! ;)
I wanted to share with you all the funny News report that we did, unfortunately there was a glitch in firah’s memory card. So a lot of pictures and videos also disappeared! But like what firah said, “nonetheless, the fun and experience will always be a memory in our hearts and minds ♥”
That’s how we roll.
